Employment Opportunities

Bartender

Beer & Wine knowledge required. We encourage our bartenders to understand classic cocktail recipes, as well as bring creative ideas to the table. Understanding how to create a balanced cocktail is crucial. We also utilize fresh farm-to-table ingredients, and grow a bountiful Chef’s Garden each year. Therefore, our bartenders are encouraged to utilize ingredients grown on the property in creative ways that encourages discussions with guests. Serving experience is tremendously helpful in this position, as many guests enjoy dining in the bar itself.

Housekeeper

The Housekeeping position is a vital component of our inn. The restaurant itself has a large staff, but the inn operates at a slower pace with only five inn rooms. Therefore, the Housekeeper cleans after every inn guests leaves, but also takes time to clean the house as a whole. Having a professional and courteous personality is a must, as is having a good eye for things being out of place or dirty. Having a keen eye and positive work ethic will go far in this position!

Kitchen Staff

Our staff is well versed in a variety of food preparations. You must have cooking experience before, preferably with professional culinary education/schooling. As with most kitchens, you must be able to work in a demanding environment and still keep a level head. We also ask that our chefs bring their creativity to the table and show guests what makes them unique. Come work with our chefs, learn from the best, and expand your expertise with us!

Host / Hostess

Often an overlooked position at restaurants, the Host position at JWH is vital to a guest’s experience. Maintaining a cool, professional demeanor while busy is crucial. We require our hosts to answer phones, do confirmation calls, assist with watering tables, and being “the face” of the restaurant when guests come in. The host is often the most communicative with guests leading up to their reservation, so we require a friendly, professional person for this position.

Server

Our service staff is incredibly well-versed, and typically step into the job with at least 2-3 years of restaurant experience under their belts already. We love to elevate the skills and professionalism of our staff, so fine dining experience isn’t required but is strongly suggested. You must be able to maintain professionalism while being busy, understand beer, wine, and liquors, and adequately explain complex dishes in a relatable manner.

Innkeeper

Innkeepers at the Joshua Wilton House are the go-to staff member for all inn guests. They confirm reservations, respond to calls and emails, and are responsible for creating attractive discounts and packages for travelers. Innkeepers often cook and serve breakfast to our inn guests as well, so basic cooking and cleanliness is required.
